Hope Elementary Charter is a tuition-free public school that serves students from Kindergarten through Fifth grades. We are located in the historic Oakwood neighborhood and housed in the Barbee School Building that was erected in 1924. The school's progressive, high-quality, student-centered educational program expands educational choices for parents and their children in the public school system, supports a nurturing community of learners, and focuses on enhancing the academic growth while nurturing social development in every student.
Hope Elementary Charter stakeholders are proud to announce that we have vested in The Leader In Me program, which is an elementary school approach to Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. The program produces transformational results such as higher academic achievement, increased engagement among teachers and parents, and equips students with the self-confidence and skills they need to thrive in the 21st century economy.
Welcome to the 2014 -2015 school year! The faculty and staff of Hope Charter Leadership Academy are looking forward to an energetic, rewarding, and successful year of learning and leadership. It continues to be a privilege to serve as principal of Hope Charter Leadership Academy. Our school is building rich traditions, and developing an outstanding reputation about our emphasis on leadership and our extensive wrap around support from the community.
As we implement our new leadership focus while becoming the first Leader In Me charter school in Raleigh, NC, we recognize that in order to be successful our children need support in leadership and academics in order to be prepared as 21st century learners. We also know that it is imperative that an effective partnership between teachers and parents is accomplished as it makes a great difference in supporting your child's education. I would encourage each parent/guardian to stay active in your child's education. I certainly realize that many of us lead busy lives, and it is often difficult to volunteer at school. However, taking just a few minutes in the evening to read to your child, talk with your child about school, or simply see that your child is organized for the next school day can have amazing benefits.
Enjoy the 2014-2015 school year and all the excitement it will bring! We hope that you are just as excited as we as we embark on our journey of learning and leadership!
